In 2021, the Yellowhead Tribal Council embarked on a new project aimed at growing food for the Nations. This initiative was made possible by Laverne Arcand and Ercan Bozkurt’s proposal to create a hydroponic farm, which would produce food in an efficient and environmentally conscious manner. The Yellowhead Tribal Gardens project aims to address the barriers to healthy eating that many nation members face by providing affordable and nutritious vegetables grown in-house.
Our mission is to cultivate a greener future by growing nutrient-rich food through innovative hydroponic cultivation. We are dedicated to resource optimization and using cutting-edge technology to provide fresh, locally-grown produce year-round. By partnering with Growcer, a company that specializes in hydroponic farms, we are able to produce food for the Nations without using traditional farming methods. Hydroponic farming uses 90% less water and 95% less land than traditional farming, and plants grow much faster and stay fresh for longer.
We believe that our approach to agriculture will revolutionize the way we grow food and ensure a healthier planet for generations to come. Our commitment to this vision is demonstrated through the Yellowhead Tribal Gardens project, showcasing our dedication to sustainable nourishment.
